Controller and scope
BlackRoadCode operates RotBits, an educational computer security website. This notice describes how information is handled when you visit the site and, if you have administrative access, when you sign in or publish content. Contact: blackroadcode@gmail.com. Information handled and purposes
Reading public content does not require an account or payment details. When you visit, the hosting infrastructure may process technical request data, such as IP address, date, requested page, browser, and security logs, to deliver the site, keep it available, and prevent abuse.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand page visits, approximate referral and location, and browser or device characteristics in aggregate. Vercel says this tool does not use analytics cookies or tie its statistics to an identified person. Avoid putting personal information in URLs that you visit or share.
Administrative access uses Supabase Auth. For this purpose, credentials and session data needed to authenticate administrators are processed; cookies maintain the session. Content an administrator publishes or uploads is stored in Supabase to operate the site. When enabled and used by an administrator, the optional translation feature sends selected text to OpenAI to propose a translation. This feature is not used on public site visits.
We do not ask readers for sensitive data, payment information, or accounts. We do not sell personal data or use analytics for personalized advertising.
Providers and retention
We use Vercel for hosting and analytics, Supabase for the database, storage, and administrative authentication, and OpenAI for optional administrative translation. These services may process information in other countries under their own terms and safeguards.
Technical data, logs, and statistics are retained according to the providers' settings and retention periods; we do not state a fixed period we have not verified. Administrative accounts and content are kept for as long as needed to operate RotBits or meet applicable obligations. You may request information or deletion through the contact below, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
Your choices and rights
You can limit what your browser sends through its privacy settings. Blocking session cookies may prevent administrative access; reading public content does not require signing in. To request access, correction, deletion, or objection to processing, or to limit use of your data, write to blackroadcode@gmail.com. Tell us how to contact you, what information you seek, and enough detail to locate your request; we may need to verify your identity before responding.
